The app works offline. We do not receive children’s recordings or learning activity. There are no accounts, ads, tracking, analytics or crash-reporting services in the current app. If a parent emails us or visits this website, that involves separate processing described below.
1. Who we are and what this covers
MeloLingo Kids is a Spanish music game for children aged 4–7. It is developed and operated by Wojciech Zieba, who is the controller of personal information handled through this website and parent support where data protection law applies.
Contact: wojciech.zieba@gmail.com.
This policy covers MeloLingo Kids, kids.learnspanishwithmusic.app and our support for this app. The separate MeloLingo app for a general audience has its own privacy policy and different data practices.
2. What the app does
The current app does not connect to our servers or to third-party online services. Its songs, pictures, voices and word-check model are bundled with the app. The Android release does not request internet permission.
- No accounts, sign-in, advertising or in-app purchases.
- No analytics, advertising identifiers, tracking or session replay.
- No collection of a child’s name, email address, date of birth, contacts or location.
- No upload of voice recordings, speech results or learning progress.
The app stores recordings, progress and settings locally as described below. Local processing is different from sending information to us: we cannot access these files remotely.
3. Microphone and voice recordings
Some activities invite your child to say a Spanish word. The microphone is off by default. A parent can enable it during setup or in the grown-ups’ area, subject to the device’s microphone permission. The app can still be played without microphone access.
The app records during the speaking activity, not continuously in the background. Recordings are kept in the app’s private storage. It keeps up to three newest accepted recordings per word so your child can hear their own voice in the game. Older recordings are removed as new ones replace them. Rejected recordings are discarded rather than added to the child’s collection.
A bundled Whisper model checks the spoken word on the device. Audio is not sent to OpenAI, Apple’s or Google’s online speech services, or any other speech API. The app does not save a speech transcript; it uses the check result to guide the activity. Accepted audio is saved separately for playback.
The app configures the recordings directory to be excluded from iOS device backups and from Android cloud backup and device transfer. We do not keep a server copy of recordings.
4. Progress and settings
The app saves information such as collected words, completed adventures, opened worlds, recent games and parent settings in files on the device. It does not sync them to an account or our servers.
Device operating systems may include progress and settings in system backups according to your device settings. These are separate from the voice recordings excluded above. We do not operate those backups or have access to them.
Local files remain until replaced, deleted using the available controls, or removed with the app’s local data. Removing the app and its data removes its local files; offloading an app may preserve data. Previously created system backups may remain until you manage or delete them through your device or backup provider.
5. Parent controls and children’s privacy
The grown-ups’ area is behind a parental question. Parents can turn the microphone off, listen to saved recordings, delete an individual recording, or choose Delete all recordings. Deleting recordings does not reset collected words or completed adventures. You can also revoke microphone permission in device settings.
We do not ask children to send personal information to us, and do not sell or share their information for advertising. A parental question and device permission are controls for local app use; they are not presented as verified parental consent to online collection.
Parents can contact us about privacy or deletion. Please do not email children’s voice recordings, photos, names or other identifying information. If you believe a child has sent personal information to our support address, tell us so we can review and delete it unless retention is required by law.
6. This website and parent support
Website visits
This website is separate from the offline app. Our current hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical request information needed to deliver and protect the site, which may include an IP address, requested URL, browser or device details, request time and security-related information. This site does not add advertising pixels, analytics scripts, embedded videos, external fonts, or a contact form. We do not set our own tracking cookies.
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in delivering a working, secure website and preventing abuse. Hosting records are handled under the provider’s applicable retention and security practices; we do not use them to build children’s profiles.
Email support
If a parent contacts wojciech.zieba@gmail.com, we receive the sender’s email address, message, any voluntarily supplied attachments and email metadata. We use this information to answer the request and resolve the issue. Where the GDPR applies, the basis is our legitimate interest in providing support and, where relevant, fulfilling a requested service or a legal obligation.
We aim to delete or anonymise routine support correspondence within 12 months after the request is resolved. We may keep relevant records longer when needed to meet a legal obligation or address a specific dispute. Avoid including personal information about your child; an app version, device model and description of the problem are usually enough.
7. Providers, security and international processing
Vercel provides website hosting, and Google’s Gmail delivers and stores support email. They may process technical or support information on infrastructure outside your country, including the United States. Applicable provider arrangements and, where required, lawful transfer safeguards govern that processing. See Vercel’s privacy notice and Google’s privacy policy.
The app’s creative assets were prepared before distribution using tools including ElevenLabs, OpenAI image generation and Suno. The bundled word checker uses OpenAI’s Whisper model locally. These tools do not receive children’s audio or other app data when the app runs.
Apple and Google separately handle app distribution and any platform diagnostics or backups you choose to enable, under their own policies. Those platform services are not app analytics services operated by us.
We use HTTPS for this website and the app’s private device storage for local files. No system can guarantee absolute security. We may disclose support or website information where legally required, or where necessary to address abuse or protect legal rights.
8. Your privacy rights
Depending on your location and the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your information, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or complain to a data protection authority. In Poland, the supervisory authority is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
Email us to make a request. We may ask for enough information to verify it, and will respond within the period required by applicable law. We cannot retrieve, listen to or remotely delete the app’s local recordings and progress: use the parent controls or your device settings for those files. For system backup copies, use your platform’s backup controls.
9. Changes and contact
This policy describes the current version of MeloLingo Kids. If we change how information is handled, we will update this page and its date. New online features or other materially different processing will require an updated explanation and any notices or permissions required by law before that processing starts.
For privacy questions, contact Wojciech Zieba at wojciech.zieba@gmail.com.
